Color Drain

This project was my introduction to 2D digital art and the lighting system within Zbrush. I wanted to create a piece that used both 3D and 2D software. I started with getting a basic head model in Zbrush, I modeled a bit of the head to have a simplistic expression. I then started to set up the different lights that were around the head model. This was the first project in that I used the lighting system in Zbrush and I wanted to kind of paint with light rather than trying to color on the model or put a texture onto the model. After setting up some of the lights the colors would blend and make new colors on the model which is what I was going for. After I was done with the lighting of the model I rendered it and moved it into Photoshop and started to work on the 2D part of the project. The challenging thing with this is how was I going to show that this is a 3D model and still be able to represent this in 2D space. I then started to grab the light that was on the model and drain it off of the model giving it the effect that the model was losing its color. Working with this idea for a while I realized that I could add a few more of the heads to give the overall piece more meaning of the idea that I came up with. I then added 2 more of the heads looking in different directions and instead of painting with color on these models I wanted to be a bit darker and devoid of color. After adding them to the 2D space I started to pull the color off of the middle model and blend it throughout the background and the other 2 models. Looking back on the project now I won't tell you whether the other 2 heads are taking the color from the middle head or vice versa, it is up to interpretation to the viewer.
